Overview

Watts Health Center is headquarters for the medical and administrative services of the Watts Healthcare Corporation. The Center, one of the first community health centers in the United States, is still one of the largest and most prominent. The 69,000 square-foot facility houses a staff of 300 and offers a full range of services including clinical, preventive, behavioral and restorative.

Clinical services include adult medicine, dental, obstetrics and gynecology, optometry, pediatrics and urgent care. Supplementing these services is an in-house specialty clinic where surgery, orthopedics, dermatology and podiatry services are available.

Preventive services promoting health maintenance and education include: caner screening, tobacco control, substance abuse prevention, tuberculosis control, immunizations, maternal and child health, and nutrition education.

Behavioral services include: counseling, testing and case management for special populations: support services for seniors and chronically ill; inpatient and outpatient substance abuse recovery services; and informational and referral assistance programs.

Restorative services include: physical therapy focusing on the restoration and preservation of muscle strength or joint mobility; housing and temporary support services for victims of domestic violence (i.e., women and children).

Watts Health Center is dedicated to serving the poor and uninsured and is committed to the delivery of personalized services utilizing state of the art technology, and a well trained and culturally sensitive staff. The Center has been recognized for its programs and services through its designation as a federally qualified health center and national accreditation for quality.
