Behavioral Health Clinician

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide an integrated and coordinated system of care within the Primary Care Clinics that will identify and treat patients for mental health, substance abuse and other high risk behaviors.
  • Responsible for assisting in developing protocols and implementing them within the WHCC Primary Health Clinics.
  • Develop protocols for delivery and trainings for Primary Care physicians and other medical staff, including interns.
  • Perform mental status examinations, therapy and preventative health measures.
  • Discuss cases with Physician and other health professionals to prepare a comprehensive patient care plan.
  • Administer and recommend individual therapy or other forms of treatment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Requires a Master’s degree in mental health or related field from an accredited university.
  • Current license as a licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
  • Minimum of three years clinical experience.
  • Spanish speaking highly desired.

Location: WHCC

Behavioral Health Navigator

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Accurately collect data and track outcomes to support BH Strategic planning process.
  • Assist and develop any visual data charts and flyers to facilitate the communication of behavioral health information.
  • Clerical duties include: writing professional letters to patients, scanning BH Clinician material into patient charts, ensure required BH hand-out materials are stocked and up-to-date, track inventory of BH department supplies and track and write bi-weekly BH department meeting minutes.
  • Identify and respond via in-person or telephone to patients who could benefit from BH services via the use of clinic-wide screening tools, direct referrals from primary care providers, patient self-referral or other community agencies.
  • Serves as the essential link between patients and all other care providers. Represents patient/family by intervening, negotiating and promoting their concerns. Problems requiring advocacy may include social and health inequities or inadequate and non-existence community resources (i.e., insurance benefits, housing, transportation, etc.).

Key Requirements:

  • Completing of a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • At least two years’ experience working with underserved populations.
  • Some awareness of local/state public health systems and local healthcare environment.
  • Fully fluent in English/Spanish.

Confidential Payroll/Accounting Technician

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Reviews time sheets, work charts, wage computation, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
  • Verifies attendance, hours worked, and pay adjustments, and posts information onto designated records.
  • Processes and issues employee paychecks and statements or earnings and deductions.
  • Uses payroll/accounting software to record, process, store and analyze information
  • Classify, record and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records.
  • Complies with federal, state and company policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Key Requirements:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent with at least twelve (12) units of Accounting at the community college level or higher.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Payroll Technician. Accounts Payable experience a plus.

Counselor I

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interview clients for intake work-ups and social history.
  • Assume responsibility for a full caseload of clients with regularly scheduled counseling appointments.
  • Provide case management and individual counseling services to clients and family.
  • Collect and document submission of urine samples.
  • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS counseling.
  • Responsible for providing substance abuse counseling and rehabilitation services under the direction of the Supervising Counselor.

Key Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED. Certificate in substance abuse counseling (CCAPP).
  • MINIMUM of one (1) year experience as a counselor or equivalent position in substance abuse recovery program.

Degreed Nutritionist

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Enrolls and certifies high risk WIC participants in a timely manner and low-risk participants as needed.
  • Conducts in-depth high-to-complex nutritional assessments of participants identified with level 3 and/or 4 risks.
  • Evaluates dietary intakes, reviews appropriate medical, clinical, and health information for determining risk level and provides nutrition interventions that correspond to nutrition conditions.
  • Develops high risk nutrition care plan for nutritional improvement and documents in the Individual Nutrition Care Plan (INEP) in the Integrated State Information System (ISIS) computer system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition related field required. Master’s degree in a nutrition related field or Public Health preferred.
  • Must have at least (1) year’s work experience in the field of food nutrition and/or dietetics. Must have at least (1) year’s work experience in nutrition and breastfeeding dealing with individual counseling and teaching a class.

Dental Assistant

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Set up equipment.
  • Greet and prepare patients for treatment.
  • Under the direction of the dentist provide dental services that require his/her technical training, with the end result of increased production and patient satisfaction.
  • Keep accurate records of patient visits.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Key Requirements:

  • High School Diploma and/or GED required.
  • Two (2) years’ experience as a dental assistant; completion of a recognized curriculum for dental assistants.
  • Must possess a California radiation safety certificate.
  • PC literate within a Windows based environment with the ability to accurately review and update patient records via an electronic health record system (eCW).
  • Must have current X-ray license and CPR card.

Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assisting doctors with examinations and other nursing procedures; collecting and labeling laboratory specimens in accordance with laws and policies.
  • Maintaining complete and accurate patient records.
  • Data entry thru EHR.
  • Administering EKG’s, IV therapy, checks patient’s vital signs, catheterization and irrigation.
  • Strictly adhering to universal precautions as established by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, DHS/OA and clinic standards.

Key Requirements:

  • A Valid Licensed Vocational Nurse license issued by the State of California is required.
  • Working knowledge of direct patient care methods and practices in a community clinic setting.

Medical Assistant-Bilingual

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive medical assistant patient care as part of a medical team to support departments as needed.
  • Accurately input data into electronic health record system.
  • Ensure patient rooms are clean and adequately prepared for use.

  • High school or equivalent.
  • Completion of a State approved program for medical assistants.
  • Back and Front Office experience.

Nurse Practitioner

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines and instructions.
  • Records physical findings, and formulates plan and prognosis based on patient’s condition,
  • Prescribes or recommends drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, or related therapeutic procedures.
  • Discuss cases with physician and other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures.

Key Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner training program and certification by the State of California Board of Registered Nursing.
  • A license to practice nursing in California.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in primary health care setting.
  • Familiarity with patient care.
  • Good verbal communication.

Nutrition Assistant

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Teach monthly nutrition health education and breastfeeding classes.
  • Perform basic or routine (low-to-moderate) individual nutrition education intervention according to clients nutritional needs.
  • Record summary of pertinent nutritional information using standardized format on the Integrated Statewide Information System (ISIS).
  • Enroll, disqualify, and certify WIC eligibility for participants on therapy program via the ISIS system.
  • Provide income, residence, nutrition and category screenings.
  • Participate in outreach activities, as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Key Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Two (2) or more college courses in basic nutrition, food service dietetic and/or health.
  • Must be certified WIC Nutrition Assistant with one (1) year as a Nutrition Assistant I or equivalent health related experience.
  • Must be able to speak and write in Spanish/English fluently.

 Registered Dental Assistant-Bilingual

Youth Advocate

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist Prevention Specialist II with the After-School curriculum, activities and recreational outings.
  • Empower youth to become more aware and care about their environment/community.
  • May act as a liaison between the youth in community and external agencies by distributing information materials and/or engage community agencies to empower or provide leadership opportunities for youth.
  • Provides leadership and direction for Peer Advocates.
  • Attend and participate in staff, community, professional development trainings and any other program related meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Must be between the ages of 18-25.
  • High school diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred but not required.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience working with youth.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

Certified Medical Biller-Bilingual

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and submits clean claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper.
  • Answers questions from patients, clerical staff and insurance companies.
  • Evaluates patient’s financial status and establishes budget payment plans. Follows and reports status of delinquent accounts.
  • Performs various collection actions including contacting patients by phone, correcting and resubmitting claims to third party payers.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPPA guidelines/regulations.

Key Requirements:

  • High school diploma.
  • Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices.
  • Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices.

Confidential Executive Secretary

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Act as liaison between the Director of Customer Service and internal and external publics in the resolution of problems and/or coordination of programmatic activities.
  • Collects, analyzes and interprets data relative to designated issues/projects of the department. Basic statistical knowledge and analysis required for designated projects.
  • Coordinates logistics for external activities and events, including preparation of promotional materials for external agencies (i.e. audits, workshops, forums, receptions and site-visits). Responsible for preparing event materials and packages, including recording and maintaining written proceedings.
  • Conducts various office functions ranging from screening office and telephone calls, to maintaining office files and handling outgoing/incoming mail.
  • Responsible for complaint/grievance resolution process, maintaining files and preparing reports.

LVN Case Manager

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure appropriate Case Management of care for members in clinic settings.
  • Review daily hospital census based on assignment and ensures post hospital follow-up visit is obtained timely.
  • Experience in disease management, tracking and trending, reporting on frequent admissions and emergency department visits. Initiating care plans and familiar with post hospital discharge protocol.
  • Facilitates open communication with other nurses and UM Technician support within the department to ensure coordination of care for members.

Key requirements:

  • A Valid Licensed Vocational Nurse license issued by the State of California is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in an acute care setting.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a managed care setting, health plan or group experience preferred.

Optometrist

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Examines eyes and corrects defects by the use of lenses, prisms or eye exercise.
  • Measures visual acuity using such aids as ophthalmologist phoropters, charts, etc.
  • Refers patients requiring medical treatment to physicians.
  • Determines the accommodative and refractive states of the eye.
  • Measures and checks lenses.
  • May supervise para-professional staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of optometry.
  • Valid California license to practice optometry.
  • Minimum two years working experience as a practicing optometrist.

Patient Retention Specialist

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identify clinic patients not engaged in HIV medical care within the past 7 months.
  • Work closely with the clinical services team which includes the outpatient medical (OPM) service and dental services. The behavioral health team may also be included as warranted.
  • Work with staff to develop a plan with patients/family to provide services to resolve psychosocial difficulties, which interferes with obtaining or maximizing benefits of behavior change.
  • Complies with timely and accurate maintenance of records as required by the organizational policy and procedures and external regulatory agencies.
  • Evening and weekend assignments as required by client population.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Key Requirements:

  • BS in Social Services or related field from a recognized university or college and/or at least 3-5 year’s work experience in the field.
  • Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions in a clear, concise and proactive manner, including recognition and resolution of errors.
  • Have some knowledge and experience with Motivational Interviewing and Behavioral Change Techniques.

Podiatrist

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Diagnoses and treats foot, ankle and other related structures using medical histories, physical examinations, x-rays and laboratory results.
  • Treats conditions such as corns, calluses, ingrown nails, tumors, bunions, cysts and abscesses by surgical methods.
  • Correct deformities by means of plaster casts and strapping.
  • Advises patients about treatments and foot care techniques to prevent future problems.
  • Educates the public about the benefits of foot care through techniques such as speaking engagements, advertising and other forums.
  • Records all diagnoses and treatments.

 

Key Requirements:

  • California State Physician and Surgeon’s certificate issued by the Board of Medical Examiners of the State of California.
  • Completion of a residency or fellowship approved by an American Specialty Board in Podiatry.
  • At least (3) three years recent experience.

Prevention Specialist

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate educational sessions, activities, recreational outings and workshops.
  • Prepare and input data reports.
  • Empowers youth to care for their environment and community.
  • Provides leadership to Prevention Specialist I, Youth Advocates, Peer Advocates and volunteers.
  • Attends and participates in staff, community, professional development trainings and other program related meetings.

Key Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred but not required.
  • At least (3) years’ experience working with youth.
  • Class B driver’s license or the ability to obtain within 90 days.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.

Receptionist-Bilingual

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Professionally administer all incoming calls.
  • Ensure phone calls are redirected accordingly.
  • Greet guests in a professional, friendly, hospitable manner.

Key Requirements:

  • Excellent phone etiquette (verbal and interpersonal skills).

Senior Case Manager

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assign, register and process clients through all phases with DPSS and other agencies. Assist clients with forms, applications and other paperwork required by agencies and service organizations. Assist/prepare reports for various regulatory agencies and/or internal departments.
  • Collaboration and coordination with Case Management services, to include developing housing, employment training resources, advocacy of criminal justice system and developing discharge plans.
  • Provide group and individual counseling and required documentation within required/specified timeframe.
  • Document, maintain and review client files, applying quality assurance criteria.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Key Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in Social Services preferred.
  • Certified or Registered Substance Abuse Counselor (with DHCS approved certifying organization).
  • Three years minimum experience as an AOD Counselor or equivalent position in a substance recovery program.
